Three acre forest fire burning between Buxton and Manning

Manning/Buxton – Multiple fire agencies are fighting a three-acre two-alarm fire burning in heavy forested land between Pongratz Road and Pihl Road, according to Banks Fire District public information officer Scott Adams.

As of 8:15 p.m., the fire was surrounded and fire crews were working on containment.

While evacuations are not being advised at this time, those in the vicinity of the fire should “consider getting ready to go,” according to Adams.

In addition to local and area fire crews, private citizens have assisted with off-road vehicles to access the fire, which is in difficult to reach terrain.

Pongratz Road is closed to through traffic at Pihl and Fisher road; local access is permitted.

Banks Fire, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, and the Oregon Department of Forestry are among the agencies responding.
