Banks – Union Point Cemetery lost an outbuilding in an early-morning fire on Thursday, according to Banks Fire District 13.
No injuries were sustained during the fire, which destroyed the outbuilding but did not spread to any other structures.
According to Banks Fire District Public Information Officer Mitch Ward, Banks Fire District 13 received a call at 4:51 a.m. on Thursday, June 7 and arrived to find a 15′ x 30′ outbuilding fully involved.
According to Ward, one neighbor says the building had not been used for cemetery maintenance in years, and was locked.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In addition to Banks Fire District #13, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue also responded to the call.
